Google turned off your free website.
Your listing may still link to it.
In 2024 Google stopped hosting the free sites it built from Business Profiles. Any address ending in business.site now opens a "not found" page. Every one I checked on New Orleans-area listings in October 2026 did. Your profile, your reviews and your hours are fine. It's only the website that went.
01 / Check yours
Ten seconds, on your phone.
02 / Your options
Four ways to go, two of them free.
No website. Take the dead link off your profile. Your hours, phone number, photos and reviews still show on Google. A dead link is worse than none, so do at least this today.
A free builder. Google Sites and others let you make a page yourself at no cost. Unless you buy a domain, it sits on their address, not yours, and you keep it up to date.
A paid builder plan. More templates and your own domain, billed every month. You still build it and keep it up to date. Most of the features are for shops and blogs, not a plumber who needs a phone number and a service area.
Have it built. That's what I do, below.
03 / What the replacement needs
One good page does what the Google site did, and more.
It lives on a domain in your name, so the next time a company shuts something down, your address doesn't go with it.
04 / The price
$1,000 built, on a domain in your name.
I build it, put it on your domain and point your Google listing at it. Then $79 a month for the care plan: hosting, security, backups and small edits, so new hours or a new service is an email, not a weekend.
Already have a site and just need the listing, Facebook and Yelp pointed at it? That's $75 an hour, no minimum.
05 / Questions
What owners ask first.
Did I lose my Google reviews? No. Google turned off the websites, not the Business Profiles. Your reviews, photos and hours are where they were.
Can I get my old business.site page back? Not from Google. If you saved its text or photos, send them and they go into the new page.
Do I need a website for my Google Business Profile? No, the profile works without one. But people who tap Website want a price list, photos of your work or a way to book, and if your listing has none, the next listing does.
Send me your business name.
I'll check what your listing links to now and tell you what it would take. No sales call.
